About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our team in Denver, Colorado. This role is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC mills and lathes to fabricate and modify precision plastic injection mold components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
The ideal candidate will have strong Mastercam/CAM programming experience, hands-on experience with 5-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes, excellent blueprint interpretation skills, and a strong understanding of precision machining and tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, 3D models, tolerances, and specifications.
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for both CNC mills and lathes.
- Set up and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
- Determine machining sequences, cutting tools, reference points, feeds, speeds, depths, angles, and cutting paths.
- Calculate angular and linear dimensions, radii, curvatures, hole locations, and other machining requirements.
- Load, edit, and optimize CNC programs and machine control settings.
- Monitor machine operations, identify malfunctions, and make necessary adjustments.
- Use precision measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers, to verify finished components meet specifications and tight tolerances.
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, tool room, management, and shop-floor personnel to improve production efficiency.
- Help maximize machine tool life and improve overall work throughput.
- Maintain CNC equipment and keep the work area clean, safe, and organized.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of CAM programming experience in a precision metal machining environment.
- 5+ years of recent experience programming and operating 5-axis CNC mills.
- 5+ years of recent experience programming and operating CNC lathes.
- Strong proficiency with Mastercam.
- Strong CAD/CAM and computer skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting paths.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to work on-site in Denver, Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in plastic injection mold making.
- Experience with mold repair.
- Experience with thin-wall packaging molds.
- Experience supporting automation or mold-related manufacturing operations.
Compensation & Benefits
