Job description

Position Overview

The Instructor is, first and foremost, someone who loves working with kids. You'll get to know each student individually — encouraging, motivating, and adapting your teaching style to fit their personality and pace — while guiding them through our project-based Belt System curriculum in coding, robotics, and technology. Technical background is a real plus, but what matters most is your ability to create a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to come back next week.

Key Responsibilities

・ Create a fun, encouraging, and engaging classroom experience for every student

・ Get to know each student individually and adapt your approach to their personality, pace, and learning style

・ Manage an orderly, positive classroom at all times

・ Teach class material according to iCode's provided curriculum and guidelines

・ Provide weekly updates to parents on their student's progress

・ Assess, record, and report on student development, progress, and behavior

・ Treat all students equally and fairly

・ Maintain a professional, dependable presence at all times

Qualifications

What matters most:

・ Genuine enthusiasm for working with kids (experience with children ages 5–18 preferred — teaching, coaching, camp counseling, tutoring, childcare, mentoring, etc.)

・ Positive, outgoing personality with excellent people skills

・ Patient, encouraging, and adaptable communication style

・ Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working evenings and/or weekends

・ Strong written and verbal communication skills

・ Comfortable managing a classroom and holding kids' attention

・ Able to work independently as well as part of a team

Technical background (a plus, not required):

・ Any experience with coding, robotics, or technology is a bonus — HTML, JavaScript, Python, Unity, GameMaker, or similar

・ Comfortable learning and teaching new software/tools with training

・ General comfort with Apple computers and devices

Education:

・ High school diploma or GED required

・ College students (any year, any major) welcome to apply

・ Current high school students may apply if they hold an active leadership role in a STEAM club and have a strong interest in working with younger kids

・ Graduates of the iCode program are encouraged to apply

Expectations

・ Follow the responsibilities outlined above

・ Stay on the schedule provided by the Campus Director

・ Employee's time is fully committed to iCode while on the clock — no personal social media use during work hours

・ Complete tasks within timelines and quality expectations set by your manager

・ Bring creative solutions to classroom challenges as they come up

・ Clock in and out for every shift

・ Wear proper work attire

・ Be a team player with strong customer service instincts

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $17.00 - $26.00 per hour

Benefits:

・ 401(k)

・ Employee discount

・ Flexible schedule

・ Professional development assistance

Work Location: In person
