Job description

The Human Resources Manager (Physician Recruitment & Onboarding) leads full-lifecycle talent acquisition, credentialing coordination, and clinical integration for physicians and healthcare providers. Reporting to executive leadership, this position balances strategic clinical sourcing with comprehensive human resources operations to minimize vacancy windows for vital medical roles while ensuring an exceptional, high-touch onboarding experience for new doctors.
Primary responsibilities center on executing targeted physician recruitment strategies in partnership with medical directors and department chairs to address specialty staffing requirements. The manager oversees candidate sourcing through residency networks, medical associations, and specialized channels, handling initial screenings, coordinating multi-stage peer interviews, managing site visits, and assisting in employment contract negotiations. A core pillar of the role is driving the physician onboarding pipeline; the manager collaborates closely with the Medical Staff Office to monitor primary source verification, state licensing, DEA certification, and hospital privilege approvals. Additionally, the role entails designing structured orientation schedules that encompass EMR system training, compliance completion, and practice integration to ensure new physicians transition smoothly into patient care. Beyond recruitment and onboarding, the manager maintains compliance with Joint Commission guidelines, HIPAA, and healthcare employment laws, while managing retention initiatives, physician benefits, and ongoing provider engagement strategies.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, alongside a minimum of four years of progressive HR experience, with at least two years specifically focused on physician talent acquisition and clinical credentialing workflows. Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP) or healthcare management credentials are highly desirable. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in medical licensing procedures, physician compensation models, and healthcare regulations, paired with exceptional interpersonal skills, strong contract negotiation abilities, and proficiency in modern applicant tracking systems.
