Job description

About the Role

Texas Slab Guys is hiring an experienced Concrete Foreman to lead field execution across Houston-area projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows concrete, can run a crew, holds people accountable, communicates clearly, and takes pride in delivering a clean, high-quality finished product. You will be responsible for turning a sold scope of work into a completed job - safely, efficiently, and to our standards.

We are not looking for someone who only knows how to pour concrete. We need a field leader who can plan the day, identify problems before they become expensive, manage crews and subcontractors, protect the customer experience, and own the result from site preparation through final cleanup.

What You Will Own

  • Lead concrete crews and subcontractors on residential and light commercial projects throughout the Houston area.

  • Review project scope, measurements, elevations, access, drainage, finish requirements, reinforcement, and job-specific details before work begins.

  • Manage demolition, excavation, base preparation, compaction, forming, rebar placement, doweling, sleeves, concrete placement, finishing, saw cutting, stripping forms, and final cleanup.

  • Verify forms, grades, slopes, thicknesses, reinforcement, joints, and site conditions before concrete is placed.

  • Coordinate concrete trucks, pumps, equipment, material deliveries, and labor so crews are ready when concrete arrives.

  • Direct placement and finishing operations and make real-time field decisions based on weather, slump, set time, access, crew capacity, and project conditions.

  • Maintain quality control and stop work when something does not meet plan, specification, or Texas Slab Guys standards.

  • Keep jobsites organized, safe, and professional, including protection of homes, landscaping, fences, turf, irrigation, streets, and neighboring property.

  • Communicate clearly with customers and company leadership regarding progress, schedule changes, field conditions, and open items.

  • Document project progress with photos, measurements, notes, and completion punch items.

  • Hold crews accountable for workmanship, productivity, attendance, safety, cleanup, and respectful customer interaction.

  • Complete punch-list work quickly and make sure each job is truly finished before leaving the site.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on concrete construction experience, including meaningful experience leading crews or running jobs.

  • Strong knowledge of flatwork: driveways, sidewalks, patios, slabs, approaches, foundations, curbs, or similar concrete work.

  • Ability to read plans, sketches, scopes of work, measurements, elevations, and basic specifications.

  • Strong understanding of forming, reinforcement, subgrade preparation, drainage/slope, concrete placement, finishing, curing, joints, and saw cutting.

  • Ability to recognize poor preparation or workmanship before concrete is poured.

  • Ability to lead laborers and finishers while maintaining production and quality under time pressure.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Comfort working outdoors in Houston heat and changing weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull construction materials and equipment as required for field work.

  • Professional communication skills and a customer-first mindset.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Strongly Preferred

  • Bilingual English / Spanish.

  • Experience with 4,000-5,000+ PSI concrete and higher-end residential flatwork.

  • Experience scheduling ready-mix trucks, pumps, equipment, and multiple crews.

  • Experience with rebar layout, doweling, grading/elevations, laser levels, and drainage-sensitive work.

  • Experience working directly with homeowners, general contractors, inspectors, or commercial customers.

  • OSHA training or a strong working knowledge of jobsite safety requirements.

What Success Looks Like

  • Jobs are prepared correctly before the pour - no avoidable surprises when the concrete trucks arrive.

  • Projects finish on schedule with strong workmanship, clean edges, correct elevations, proper drainage, and professional cleanup.

  • Crews know exactly what is expected and stay productive without constant supervision from ownership.

  • Customers feel informed and confident throughout the project.

  • Problems are identified early, communicated quickly, and solved in the field.

  • Callbacks, rework, wasted concrete, damaged property, and preventable jobsite mistakes are minimized.
