Position Overview

United Healthcare Staffing is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a 13-week contract opportunity at a Skilled Nursing Facility in Burbank, California.

The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide patient-centered occupational therapy services focused on improving residents’ independence, functional abilities, safety, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide therapeutic activities and interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, coordination, strength, and independence.
  • Assist patients with activities such as dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers, and other daily functional tasks.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, response to treatment, and functional performance.
  • Communicate observations and patient progress to the supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary care team.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, safety strategies, and adaptive equipment as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with facility and professional standards.
  • Follow all applicable safety, infection control, facility, and professional practice guidelines.
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and other healthcare professionals to support comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current and active California COTA license in good standing.
  • NBCOT certification preferred/required as applicable.
  • Previous SNF, long-term care, or rehabilitation experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with geriatric and post-acute care populations.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, bending, and assisting with patient transfers.
