Host / Hostess

The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming first and last impression for every guest. This position requires excellent communication, organization, attention to detail, and teamwork. The Host/Hostess helps manage the flow of the dining room while supporting the service team throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

Warmly greet and welcome every guest upon arrival.

Seat guests promptly and professionally according to the seating rotation and floor plan.

Manage and organize reservations, walk-ins, and the waitlist.

Confirm reservations and communicate special requests, celebrations, allergies, or VIP notes to the appropriate team members.

Answer the restaurant phone professionally and assist with reservation and general guest inquiries.

Provide accurate wait-time estimates and keep waiting guests informed.

Communicate with servers and managers to maintain proper pacing and avoid over-seating sections.

Maintain awareness of table status and help ensure tables are turned efficiently.

Clear and bus tables when needed.

Clean and reset tables to restaurant standards, including proper placement of silverware, glassware, napkins, and other table settings.

Polish silverware and glassware and keep adequate supplies ready for service.

Keep the host stand, entrance, menus, and surrounding areas clean and organized.

Inspect menus and replace or clean damaged or dirty menus.

Assist with preparing the dining room before service and completing closing duties after service.

Help maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the dining room.

Communicate guest concerns or special requests to a manager promptly.

Thank guests as they leave and provide a warm farewell.

Assist servers, server assistants, bartenders, and management when needed to provide smooth and efficient service.

Complete assigned opening, running, and closing side work.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.
