Junior Agentic AI / ML Engineer

This is a contract-to-hire position with Brain Capital AI which is a very fast growing Generative AI startup in greater Seattle area.

As a Junior Agentic AI/ML Engineer you will own projects from 0 to 1 as we continue to launch new products and features. This is not the typical engineering role where you create a CRUD app and call it a day. We are working on core innovations to improve the way enterprises interact their data to find actionable business insights.

Job Description:

• Design, develop, and deploy AI agents for analyzing academic data and improving student outcomes.
• Build and train machine learning models for predictive analytics, pattern recognition, and anomaly detection.
• Develop Python scripts for data extraction, preprocessing, and model integration.
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) for natural language generation and explanation.
• Implement MLOps best practices for model deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Design and implement data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading academic data from Azure databases.
• Develop and maintain data warehouses and data lakes for AI model training.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to support model development and deployment.
• Utilize AI copilots like Cursor, Claude to accelerate development and to automate data pipeline creation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify use cases and translate them into AI solutions.

Basic Requirements:

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• 1 -2 years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning models.
• Strong proficiency in Python and relevant libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Knowledge of NLP and LLMs.
• Experience with MLOps tools and practices.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Cursor or similar No Code / Low Code AI coding tools is a strong plus. (Examples: Open AI, Peltarion, Obviously.AI, Levity, RunwayML, Mistral, OpenAI)
• Experience with LLM prompt engineering.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks).
• Knowledge of data warehousing and data lake concepts.
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes.
