Job Purpose or Objective(s): Produce reliable monthly and annual financial statements for Choctaw Nation and applying analytical procedures to verify the financial data. You will report to the Senior Director of Finance.
Primary Tasks:
- You will create monthly and annual financial statements from the general ledger. Perform procedures that verify the accuracy.
- Apply accounting theory to financial information, prepare financial reports and interpret the meaning of accounting data.
- Work with independent auditors, provide financial data and supply supporting schedules and documents.
- Create financial summaries that will be published on websites, newspaper, and other public sources.
- You will perform auditing procedures on material transactions and ensure treatment per generally accepted accounting principles.
- Apply risk-based evaluations of internal controls and accounting processes. Recommend improvements to current accounting procedures.
- Provide recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
- Identify financial trends and consult with management on short and long-term business strategies.
- Conduct business studies on past financial performance.
- You will develop financial forecast models for the future, based on listed assumptions.
- May lead assigned staff or have direct supervisor responsibility including performance evaluations, corrective actions, and promotional input.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business-related field or 4 years related experience.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft excel (can perform complex functions)
- Intermediate knowledge of financial statements preparation
- Basic knowledge of governmental accounting principles
- 4 years of accounting experience
