Benefits
Seeking an experienced, confident and good-natured wood shop manager. We build and repair new wood products for old houses, Windows, doors and cabinetry. Many of the work skills products we we create and finishes we apply are being considered lost art and frequently upon delivery spectators would often comment. "Wow they don't build them like they used to", Assuming the product is one that we have just repaired, but they are often surprised to learn that "we just built that last week!"
Enthusiasm learning the nature of the work, Good organizational skills And being just an overall good human being are more important than experience, but applicants should have the ability to work in a diverse, dynamic, loud and Dusty manufacturing environment and multitask multiple different processes and elements to be well coordinated and efficient in its workflow. There can be tedium with repetitive procedures and lots of sanding and finish preparation and simple hygiene of dust maintenance to prepare for finishes. It can be physically demanding job requiring strength and agility to move and work around large or heavy pieces
Hours can be flexible between 20 to 40 and in previous situations I've offered apprentices the ability to come in do a trial run of paid shoulder to shoulder work for the first 40 hours with the encouragement that they not burn Bridges with their day job to come in and feel pressurized in a new environment in case woodworking and the old school traditional crafts doesn't appear to be a good fit.
Pay ranges from$25 an hour on the low end with up to 40 or more and has opportunity for productivity and sales bonuses. Those sales will primarily be the responsibility of other workers for the shop.
