I built ToldTold after losing my grandfather without ever recording his stories. He survived World War II, immigrated to a new country with nothing, built a business from scratch, and raised four children. He had a lifetime of wisdom, humor, and hard-won lessons. And I never captured any of it. Not because I didn't care. I cared deeply. But life got busy. Technology felt complicated for him. I kept thinking "I'll do it next time." Until there was no next time. Now, when my kids ask about their great-grandfather, I have fading memories and a few old photographs. No voice. No expressions. No stories in his own words. ToldTold exists so other families don't have to feel that regret.
