Role Description

As a Suede's Engineer on the founding team, you’ll work directly with the Sr. Engineer, Interns and founders to build Suede's core product from the ground up. This is a hands-on role focused on data ingestion, backend services, integrations, and AI components that transform unstructured retail data into usable insights.

You’ll take proven prototypes and strengthen them for production, contribute to early architectural decisions, and help build the AI agents and multimodal pipelines that power the platform. You should be comfortable in a fast-moving environment, able to break down open-ended problems, and committed to delivering clean, maintainable solutions.

You’ll own significant parts of the stack, influence technical direction, and iterate quickly based on real customer workflows. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, early-stage ownership, and building high-utility software that makes an immediate impact.

Responsibilities

• 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong backend or full-stack experience (TypeScript/Node, Python, Next.js)

• Familiarity with AI models, LLMs, RAG pipelines, multimodal models, or agent-based workflows

• Ability to take loosely defined problems and deliver production-ready solutions

• Strong ownership, attention to detail, and iterative execution style

• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/CGP/Azure), Postgres, and CI/CD

Must-Have Experience

• 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong backend or full-stack skills (TypeScript/Node, Next.js, Python)

• Familiarity with AI models, LLMs, RAG, or agent-based workflows

• Comfortable working with APIs, data modeling, and integration-heavy systems

• Strong sense of ownership, detail orientation, and iterative execution

• Familiarity with cloud environments, Postgres, and CI/CD workflows

Bonus (Huge Advantage)

• Experience building Shopify apps or e-commerce integrations

• Email ingestion, document parsing (PDF, images, attachments), or OCR pipelines

• Background in retrieval systems, embedding models, or multimodal research/implementation

• Prior early-stage startup or founding team experience
