Job description

Instructional Design and Project Manager

Overview

This role combines instructional design expertise with hands-on project management and people leadership. The focus is on building high quality learning experiences, managing complex timelines in Asana, and supporting a small learning team to deliver consistent, reliable results.

Responsibilities

Learning Strategy and Design

  • Conduct needs assessments and validate whether training is the right solution.

  • Define measurable learning objectives and success criteria.

  • Create instructor-led training, virtual sessions, self-paced modules, toolkits, and job aids.

  • Build outlines, scripts, facilitator guides, and storyboards.

  • Ensure accessibility standards and sound learning principles are applied.

Content Development

  • Develop digital learning using tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, Vyond, or similar.

  • Review work created by the eLearning developer or supporting ID and provide clear, actionable feedback.

  • Partner with subject matter experts to translate their knowledge into practical content.

Project Management

  • Own project plans in Asana and maintain accurate timelines, tasks, dependencies, and communication updates.

  • Keep stakeholders informed, escalate risks early, and ensure accountability across the workstream.

  • Standardize templates, workflows, and naming conventions to promote consistency and reduce rework.

  • Monitor project budgets, hours, and resourcing needs.

People Leadership

  • Provide day to day guidance for an eLearning developer or junior Instructional Designer.

  • Set priorities, review quality, and support skill development.

  • Establish clear expectations and maintain a productive, supportive working relationship.

  • Encourage continuous improvement and share best practices.

Implementation and Evaluation

  • Support pilots, facilitator preparation, and updates to LMS content.

  • Gather evaluation data, monitor learner outcomes, and recommend improvements to increase impact.

  • Maintain documentation and version control.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated instructional design experience across digital and live modalities.

  • Strong writer with the ability to simplify complex concepts.

  • Advanced proficiency in Asana for project planning and workflow management.

  • Experience managing contributors or junior team members.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence without drama or noise.

  • Ability to work in a fast moving environment with shifting priorities.

Preferred

  • Background in leadership development, onboarding, or professional skills training.

  • Experience with multimedia tools or light graphic design.

  • Familiarity with LMS administration.
