Job description

About the company

A profitable Series A fintech building payout infrastructure that marketplaces and digital platforms use to onboard, pay, and manage contractors and creators around the world. A single API covers bank transfers, popular wallets, and stablecoins, and the platform now sends billions of dollars a year to more than a million payees in most countries. Revenue grew more than fourfold over the past year, the company is backed by a top-tier accelerator and a well-known venture firm, and it's expanding into new money movement products.

The role

You'll be the company's first product hire, and you'll own all of it: the APIs developers build against, the dashboard customer teams run payouts from, and the flow payees go through to get verified and paid. Nobody hands you a roadmap. Your first stretch is spent with customers and prospects, building a point of view on what comes next and then making the case for it. You'll report to the two founders, who have strong views and want you to argue with them, and you'll work side by side with a small engineering team from problem definition through launch.

What you'll do

  • Run customer and prospect conversations to learn how they move money and where the product gets in their way, then combine that with usage data and support trends into clear calls on what to build

  • Set and own the roadmap with the founders and engineering, trading off customer asks, technical limits, and business goals

  • Design the product yourself, from flows to individual screens, across the developer API, the customer dashboard, and payee onboarding, verification, payout selection, and tracking

  • Write requirements, make product and API decisions, QA releases, and check whether what shipped actually fixed the problem

  • Shape pricing and packaging with the founders, and decide when a recurring operational issue deserves a product fix

  • Build the product function from scratch: how insight gets gathered, how work gets prioritized, and how decisions get made and shipped

What you must bring

  • 5+ years as a product manager, engineer, or founder

  • At least one product you took from nothing to paying customers

  • A track record of talking directly to customers and turning that into product decisions, especially when the right answer wasn't obvious

  • Experience owning a roadmap and making hard prioritization calls

  • Experience owning pricing or packaging

  • The technical depth to review API designs with engineers, weigh the tradeoffs, and change the outcome (the stack is React, Python, and AWS; you don't need to write production code)

  • Hands-on design skills, from user flows and interactions down to screen-level detail

  • Comfort staying close to what ships: documentation, QA, product usage, and support escalations

Nice to have

  • A fintech, payments, or finance background

  • Experience building developer-facing products or public APIs

  • Prior founder experience

  • Experience shipping with an engineering team of fewer than ten

Compensation & logistics

  • $200K to $280K base salary plus 0.4% to 0.8% equity

  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, unlimited vacation, a 401(k), and regular team off-sites

  • Hybrid, in the San Francisco, CA office 2 days a week

  • Not open to visa sponsorship. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the US

This isn't the right fit if

  • You need a defined roadmap or top-down direction before you can move

  • You're uncomfortable disagreeing with leadership and holding your position

  • You rely on a dedicated designer to produce flows and screens

  • You've never taken a product from zero to paying customers
