we do construction · Chief Operating Officer
Benefits
We Do Construction builds high-end renovations, ground-up homes, and ADUs across San Francisco and Los Angeles. We're profitable and growing, and we've outgrown the point where the founder can run every job, every number, and every hire himself.
That's the seat. You report to the principal and own how the company actually runs.
You'll own
Production — PMs, schedules, subs, client experience across two markets
Margin — job costing, change-order discipline, a monthly close worth deciding on
Systems — we're on Monday.com and evaluating a construction-native platform; you own that call
People — several seats hire under you in the first 90 days
Cash — working capital and a forecast the principal can plan against
You are
7+ years running operations at a residential GC, design-build firm, or developer. You've personally owned job costing and gross margin — not read someone else's report on it. You've taken a construction company through the stage where tribal knowledge stops working. Field and spreadsheet on the same day, neither beneath you. Direct enough to bring bad news early.
Commercial-only backgrounds rarely translate here.
The pitch
Real volume in two of the hardest residential markets in the country. What's missing is an operating layer between the principal and the work. You'd build it, with the authority to build it your way.
To apply
Resume through Indeed. Skip the cover letter — instead, a few sentences on an operation you inherited that ran on tribal knowledge, and what you changed first. We read those.
