ALA is dedicated to supporting, educating, and uplifting its members to succeed as leaders in the legal industry.

Position Summary:

The Systems Administrator supports and maintains the organization’s technology infrastructure, including networks, security systems, workstations, and cloud-based applications. This role assists with the installation, configuration, and support of hardware, software, SaaS, and secure remote access, while troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across the enterprise. The position also collaborates with the IT/Web Development Team to support the development, testing, and operation of web-based systems.

Key Responsibilities:

HELP DESK

·        Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues; manage data integrity; perform system audits; and monitor use of laptops, peripherals, and mobile hotspots.

·        Provide technical support for organizational systems and applications (e.g., Windows OS, Microsoft 365).

·        Deliver remote support for off-site users while maintaining responsibility boundaries between organizational and personal equipment.

·        Support approved third parties (e.g., Board members, consultants) with system access. Assist with data access queries and report generation.

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION

•        Maintain, optimize, and secure servers, networks, hardware, software, and operating systems to meet business needs; troubleshoot issues as required.

•        Document system functionality and business processes, and maintain the corporate knowledge base.

•        Serve as subject matter expert for the organization’s CRM, including configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing functional and technical support.

•        Participate in the evaluation and selection of hardware, software, and SaaS solutions.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT and TRAINING:

·        Support and facilitate project-management needs for organizational and departmental initiatives, including implementation and deployment of assets and processes.

·        Assist in developing, coordinating, and delivering staff training and post-training communications.

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Demonstrated ability to administer and support Microsoft 365 environments, including identity and access management, user lifecycle administration, shared resources, and security controls across Entra ID/Active Directory, Intune, and Exchange (on‑prem, hybrid, and cloud).

·        Proven capability supporting end‑user productivity through effective administration of Microsoft 365 applications and collaboration tools.

·        Ability to manage SaaS platforms and cloud storage solutions (e.g., OneDrive, SharePoint) in support of remote and hybrid work models.

·        Strong working knowledge of networking fundamentals—including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls—and the ability to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot across standard enterprise platforms.

·        Experience administering database-backed systems and SQL-based servers.

·        Ability to manage and maintain organizational websites using CMS platforms and basic HTML, and to interpret website analytics and reporting tools to support business objectives.

·        Demonstrated competency supporting nonprofit technology environments, including basic administration, configuration, and integration of association management systems/CRMs (e.g., Salesforce NPSP, iMIS, Fonteva).

·        Ability to support teams using project and work management platforms by configuring tools, assisting users, and improving workflow adoption.

·        Ability to implement and maintain endpoint security and mobile device management solutions to protect organizational systems and data.

·        Demonstrated experience enforcing security best practices, including MFA adoption and user credential protection.

·        Ability to design and deliver cybersecurity awareness and phishing prevention training to staff with diverse levels of technical proficiency, supporting organizational risk reduction and business continuity.

Soft Skills:

·        Strong relationship-building and communication skills with diverse audiences.

·        Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation abilities.

·        Strategic and analytical thinking to inform data-driven decisions.
