About Provizual
Provizual is a construction technology company that overlays color-coded inspection status, QA/QC, progress tracking, and third-party report data onto construction drawings. General contractors use it on ground-up projects to see where a build stands. We’re a small, inventive team that has moved fast and built a real technical advantage. Now we need to mature how we execute without losing the experimentation that created that advantage.
The Role
You will own engineering execution, quality, process, and team development. Today, much of the engineering quality gate runs through the CTO. Your job is to share that responsibility and then increasingly take it over. You do this by making standards explicit, building engineers’ independent technical judgment, and putting testing, tooling, review, documentation, and architecture practices in place so fewer problems need to be caught at the gate at all.
What You’ll Do
Own day-to-day engineering execution, including planning, prioritization, delivery, and release predictability.
Take on the quality gate: code review, architectural review, and approval of significant implementation decisions.
Define and document engineering standards and expectations so they are clear to everyone.
Build the testing, tooling, review, documentation, and architecture practices that reinforce those standards.
Coach engineers to make sound technical decisions on their own, so they need less intervention to produce complete, high-quality work.
Identify recurring problems and eliminate them at the root instead of handling them repeatedly.
Spread technical knowledge across the team so it isn’t concentrated in a few individuals.
Hire, onboard, and manage additional engineers as the team grows.
Absorb growing engineering demand without a proportional increase in chaos.
Work with the CEO and the go-to-market team to turn business priorities into realistic engineering commitments.
What We’re Looking For
Technical credibility. You are strong enough that the CTO could trust your approval of a significant implementation or architectural decision without reviewing it afterward. This is the central bar for the role.
Business judgment. Engineering exists to serve the business. You can tell the difference between “this must be fixed because it creates material risk” and “this is imperfect but good enough for what the business needs right now,” and you make that call well and communicate it clearly.
Rigor without friction. You can raise the level of discipline without extinguishing speed, creativity, or willingness to experiment.
Leadership. You’ve led and developed engineers, set expectations, and built systems that make teams better without you in every decision.
