Job description

What You'll DoLead Mechanical Engineering & Capital Projects Serve as the mechanical engineering expert for assigned plant areas and provide technical support to internal customers. Lead mechanical projects from concept and design through fabrication, installation, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, and ongoing operation. Manage projects ranging from approximately $50K to $5M, ensuring scope, schedule, quality, safety, and budget requirements are met. Analyze project requirements and identify design challenges, engineering risks, and technical solutions. Coordinate internal teams, vendors, contractors, and external engineering resources to ensure successful project execution. Oversee project workflow and proactively address issues that could affect cost, timing, quality, or implementation. Drive Continuous Improvement Lead continuous improvement and corrective-action projects that improve plant efficiency, reliability, quality, and safety. Evaluate existing equipment, systems, processes, and technologies and recommend modifications or upgrades. Provide hands-on troubleshooting and engineering support to plant operations and other internal customers. Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, productivity, maintainability, and overall plant operations. Own Engineering Design Develop and manage engineering drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor, and Vault. Create and finalize mechanical designs based on project scope, operational requirements, and safety standards. Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and identify spare-parts requirements. Evaluate mechanical designs for functionality, manufacturability, safety, and long-term reliability. Conduct project and equipment risk assessments and implement appropriate safety countermeasures. Installation, Testing & Commissioning Work closely with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and contractors throughout project execution. Manage external contractors during equipment installation and implementation. Lead or support machine FAT activities, equipment start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Ensure new equipment and systems are installed, tested, and operating according to specifications. Provide engineering support after commissioning to ensure successful transition into daily production. Safety & Compliance Ensure engineering projects and activities comply with applicable safety standards, legal requirements, and company policies. Incorporate appropriate safety considerations and safeguards into equipment and mechanical designs. Participate in risk assessments and corrective actions to improve workplace and equipment safety. What Makes This Role UniqueThis is a highly hands-on engineering position. You'll spend the majority of your time where the work happens — evaluating equipment, solving problems, supporting production, and driving projects forward Approximately: 80% — Production floor 10% — Engineering/computer work 10% — Meetings .
