Location: Edison, NY

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AWS Kubernetes Terraform Engineer with strong expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, Terraform, DevOps automation, and Kubernetes security.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, automating, and maintaining scalable cloud-native environments on AWS. The role requires strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes administration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, cloud security, and production troubleshooting.

Candidates with Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) certification and hands-on experience securing Kubernetes workloads are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

AWS Cloud Infrastructure

  • Design, deploy, and manage highly available, scalable, and secure AWS infrastructure.

  • Implement and maintain AWS services including:

    • EC2
    • EKS
    • VPC
    • IAM
    • Route 53
    • ALB/NLB
    • S3
    • CloudWatch
    • Lambda
    • Auto Scaling
  • Optimize AWS resources for performance, security, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Support disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity initiatives.

Kubernetes Administration & Security

  • Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters, primarily Amazon EKS.

  • Configure Kubernetes networking, ingress controllers, service meshes, storage classes, and cluster autoscaling.

  • Apply Kubernetes security best practices aligned with CKS standards.

  • Secure workloads using:

    • RBAC
    • Network Policies
    • Pod Security Standards
    • Secrets Management
    • Admission Controllers
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and container image scanning.

  • Support security compliance checks and Kubernetes hardening.

  • Monitor cluster health, capacity, performance, and availability.

Terraform / Infrastructure as Code

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Create reusable Terraform modules.
  • Manage Terraform state files efficiently.
  • Automate AWS infrastructure provisioning through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Conduct Terraform code reviews and enforce infrastructure governance standards.

DevOps Automation

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as:

    • GitHub Actions
    • Jenkins
    • GitLab CI
    • AWS CodePipeline
  • Automate infrastructure deployments, application releases, and operational processes.

  • Integrate security controls into DevSecOps workflows.

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to improve deployment reliability.

Monitoring & Reliability

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using:

    • AWS CloudWatch
    • Prometheus
    • Grafana
    • ELK
    • OpenSearch
  • Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root-cause analysis.

  • Improve platform observability, performance, reliability, and operational excellence.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional IT experience with strong cloud/DevOps experience.

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services.

  • Advanced experience with AWS EC2 and Amazon EKS.

  • Strong expertise in Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting.

  • Advanced Terraform development and Infrastructure as Code experience.

  • Strong experience with AWS Kubernetes services.

  • Experience with AWS Lambda.

  • Strong Linux administration skills.

  • Experience with Docker and container technologies.

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including:

    • DNS
    • Load Balancers
    • Firewalls
    • Security Groups
  • Experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines.

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.

Kubernetes & Cloud Security

Experience with:

  • Kubernetes security hardening
  • Container security and image scanning
  • AWS IAM and access management
  • Secrets management
  • AWS Secrets Manager
  • HashiCorp Vault
  • Security monitoring and incident response

Preferred Qualifications

  • CKS (Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist) certification.
  • Hands-on experience securing Kubernetes workloads.
  • Experience with AWS cloud security and DevSecOps practices.
