Physician

DevCare Solutions is currently hiring a Physician (MD/DO) for a contract opportunity at the Abilene State Supported Living Center (State of Texas). This is an excellent opportunity to provide primary medical care to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Position Details

• Position: Physician (MD/DO)

• Location: Abilene State Supported Living Center, Abilene, TX

• Pay: Up to $157.00 per hour

• Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Work Setting: Onsite

• Patient Caseload: Approximately 35–45 residents

• Average Daily Patient Volume: Up to 10 patients per day

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary medical care for residents with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).

• Evaluate and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic medical conditions.

• Perform annual physicals and routine follow-up assessments.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans.

• Maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

• Ensure compliance with state and federal healthcare standards.

On-Call Responsibilities

• Participate in a rotating weekend and holiday on-call schedule.

• Most on-call concerns (approximately 95%) are handled by phone.

• Conduct rounds in the 16-bed infirmary during assigned weekend or holiday coverage.

• Evaluate and treat residents requiring acute medical care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO

• Active Texas Medical License (or eligible to obtain one)

• DEA License (Required)

• Experience in Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or caring for individuals with IDD is preferred.
