Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of public and private-sector projects, including parks and greenspace, campuses and universities, stormwater, utility, and transportation infrastructure. This role will contribute throughout the project lifecycle—from early design concepts through construction administration—while collaborating closely with architects, engineers, landscape architects, surveyors, and support staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee civil engineering design work, including site design, grading and drainage, road and pavement design, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion and sediment control.

  • Manage the development and review of conceptual layouts, construction drawings, specifications, reports, cost estimates, SWPPPs, stormwater calculations, and water/sewer designs.

  • Deliver high-quality work within established budgets and schedules.

  • Coordinate with project managers and senior staff on project status, schedules, design decisions, and construction issues.

  • Delegate, review, and mentor the work of junior designers and technical staff.

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with team members, government agencies, contractors, and clients.

  • Coordinate construction administration activities and periodic site visits to monitor quality and construction progress.

  • Oversee project billing, client communications, QA/QC reviews, and project closeout.

  • Support proposal development, scope definition, and fee estimates.

Preferred Experience

  • Stormwater and/or utility design experience, including stormwater management practices, conveyance systems, SWPPPs, and water/sewer infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.

  • 10–15+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.

  • New York State PE or EIT preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation.

  • Experience with HydroCAD or comparable stormwater modeling software preferred.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills.
