Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing QA Technician II to support quality assurance operations at a milk production facility in San Leandro, CA.
The Quality Assurance Lab Technician will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of milk products by inspecting raw materials, monitoring production processes, performing laboratory and quality tests, documenting results, and supporting compliance with food safety and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience in quality assurance, food production, microbiology, chemistry, or a laboratory environment and be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
This position is specifically for Leave of Absence coverage. It is not expected to convert to a full-time position. The assignment may be extended only if additional coverage is required.
Schedule
- Wednesday–Saturday
- 4:00 PM–2:00 AM
- 40 hours per week
- Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday off
- Occasional overtime may be required
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality checks on incoming raw materials and finished milk products.
- Perform regular inspections of production processes to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
- Perform required laboratory and quality-control testing.
- Monitor and document equipment calibration and maintenance.
- Collaborate with production teams to promptly identify and address quality-related issues.
- Evaluate trends in test results and communicate findings to employees and management.
- Implement and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support food safety and regulatory compliance programs.
- Participate in internal audits and assist with external audits when needed.
- Record, analyze, and maintain quality data and daily production records.
- Prepare reports related to quality metrics and test results.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain 6S workplace standards.
- Investigate customer complaints and coordinate follow-up with production teams.
- Implement quality control processes and testing to ensure products meet required specifications and applicable quality standards.
- Perform other quality assurance projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of QA experience.
- Previous experience in quality assurance, food manufacturing, or a similar environment preferred.
- Candidates with microbiology or chemistry laboratory experience may also be considered.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and food safety regulations preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP and food safety preferred.
- Experience with laboratory testing equipment and maintenance preferred.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks related to food safety and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
- Proficiency with Windows-based computer programs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work the specified shift and occasional overtime when required.
