Full Stack Software Engineer

šŸ“ San Francisco, CA · On-site (5 days/week) · Full-time

šŸ’° $180K + equity

šŸ›‚ Authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)

About the company

A top-tier San Francisco venture capital firm (name shared later in the process) with $1B+ in assets under management, backing 30+ generational unicorns across AI, infrastructure, robotics, energy, space tech, and life sciences. You'll join a small, high-velocity team with deep ties to top founders, Fortune 500 executives, and global investors.

About the role

We're looking for a brilliant, hungry, and entrepreneurial Full Stack Software Engineer (2–5 years) — ideally from a top school with experience at a top company — who wants to apply their engineering skills while learning the business side of venture capital.

You'll improve our internal tooling, help evaluate startups, and build a once-in-a-lifetime network. This role has real impact and enormous upside, including the chance to spin out your own venture with the firm's funding.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain internal software — sourcing/sales CRMs and portfolio management tools
  • Work with the investment team to run technical diligence on new opportunities
  • Vet technical candidates for portfolio companies and help solve their toughest engineering challenges
  • Build a world-class network among unicorn founders, VCs, executives, and LPs

Must-haves

  • 2–5 years of full-stack software engineering
  • Proficiency in Python and TypeScript
  • Ability to operate in the cloud, ideally GCP (React on the front end)
  • Experience at a top-tier startup or larger company
  • Technical degree from a top university
  • Track record of owning products/initiatives end-to-end
  • Proof of work (GitHub, personal website)
  • Based in SF or willing to relocate — 5 days/week in office
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)

Nice-to-haves

  • Genuine interest in venture capital and startups, beyond just coding
  • Comfortable interfacing with founders and partners
  • Side projects, open source, or your own startup

Who thrives here (culture)

  • Hungry to make an impact and eager to learn venture capital
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Entrepreneurial — takes ownership and moves fast
  • Sharp communicator who can work directly with founders and investors

Role details

  • Salary: $180K
  • Equity: Option to spin out your own venture with the firm's funding and/or participate in its investments
  • Location: San Francisco — 5 days/week in office
  • Tech stack: Python, TypeScript, GCP, React
  • Visa: No sponsorship — must be authorized to work in the U.S.
