**About the company**
A fast-growing, Series A-funded AI startup building autonomous agents that automate hiring for large hospital networks and health systems, handling structured interviews and candidate conversations at real scale: thousands of conversations a month and growing. The founding team is lean and hands-on, and this function reports directly into company leadership.
**The role**
You'll own the full lifecycle of AI agent implementations, from customer onboarding and requirements gathering through production deployment and ongoing iteration. This is a genuinely hybrid role: real software engineering (building and shipping in the codebase) combined with real customer-facing ownership (scoping, deploying, and improving live deployments with actual healthcare clients). It is not a pure back-end engineering role, and it is not a pure customer success role — both halves are required and both are evaluated independently.
**What you'll do**
- Build, deploy, and iterate on AI interviewer agents using an internal Python/JavaScript stack and agentic pipelines
- Own the post-sale cycle end-to-end, from requirements gathering through go-live and ongoing performance improvement
- Monitor production agent performance, gather customer feedback, and ship rapid improvements
- Partner directly with the engineering team to identify product capabilities and contribute to the codebase as needed
**What you must bring**
- 4–6 years of total experience, with a genuine split of at least 2 years in a customer-facing/FDE-style deployment role **and** at least 2 years of full-stack software engineering — strong experience in only one of these is not sufficient, even at 4–6 years total
- Demonstrated ownership of a customer-facing technical deployment end-to-end, from initial build through customer adoption and post-deployment maintenance
- Strong Python skills (APIs, data pipelines, eval harnesses, testing frameworks) and strong JavaScript
- Strong client-facing skills: technical discovery, translating ambiguous requirements into scalable solutions, and driving onboarding through to production
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related technical field
- Based in New York City and able to work hybrid, in-office Monday through Thursday in Midtown Manhattan
- Prior startup experience; a purely large-company background is only a fit when paired with genuine startup or early-stage experience elsewhere
**Nice to have**
- Familiarity with voice or conversational AI systems, particularly in real-time or high-volume environments
**Compensation & logistics**
- $150K–$220K base (up to $220K for exceptional candidates) plus competitive equity
- Hybrid: four days a week in-office in Midtown Manhattan, NYC
- Four openings
- Not open to visa sponsorship — candidates must already be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
**This isn't the right fit if**
- Your work history shows multiple short stints under a year at different companies
- You've had a long tenure (4+ years) at a large tech company with no clear career progression
- You're looking for a pure engineering role with no customer contact
- You're looking for a pure customer-facing role with no hands-on coding
