Inside Sales Representative, Insurance Job Description
The Insurance Inside Sales Representative is responsible for selling insurance products to prospective and existing customers by phone, email, text, video call, and CRM workflows. The role focuses on lead qualification, needs assessment, quote presentation, policy recommendations, and closing new business without regular field sales activity.
Responsibilities
Contact inbound and outbound leads to discuss insurance needs.
Sell insurance products such as auto, home, renters, life, health, commercial, or specialty policies, depending on agency focus.
Qualify prospects based on coverage needs, risk profile, eligibility, budget, and timing.
Collect required customer information for quoting and underwriting review.
Explain policy options, coverage limits, deductibles, exclusions, premiums, and payment terms.
Prepare and present quotes from available carriers.
Follow up with prospects to convert quotes into bound policies.
Cross-sell and upsell additional coverage to existing customers.
Maintain accurate activity, quote, policy, and customer notes in the CRM or agency management system.
Meet sales goals for calls, quotes, policies bound, premium volume, and retention.
Coordinate with account managers, service teams, carriers, and underwriters as needed.
Ensure compliance with licensing, carrier, state, and agency requirements.
Qualifications
Active insurance license required or ability to obtain license within a defined period.
Prior insurance sales, inside sales, call center, or customer service experience preferred.
Knowledge of insurance products, coverage types, underwriting basics, and state compliance requirements preferred.
Strong phone-based sales and objection-handling skills.
Ability to explain coverage clearly and accurately.
Experience with CRM, quoting platforms, or agency management systems preferred.
Strong attention to detail when collecting customer and policy information.
Ability to meet production targets in a structured sales environment.
Preferred Skills
Property and Casualty license.
Life and Health license.
Experience with personal lines, commercial lines, Medicare, or employee benefits.
Carrier quoting experience.
Bilingual ability, depending on market needs.
Familiarity with systems such as Applied Epic, AMS360, EZLynx, HawkSoft, Salesforce, HubSpot, or AgencyZoom.
