Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a world-class Electrical Engineer to design and develop electronics for advanced optical, electro-optical, sensing, and seeker systems.

You will own electrical systems across the full development lifecycle, from early breadboards and laboratory prototypes through ruggedized assemblies and initial production hardware.

This role is well suited for an engineer with deep experience in mixed-signal electronics, optical detectors, sensor electronics, control systems, high-power circuitry, and compact hardware designed for demanding environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Design electronics for operating, controlling, and testing optical and optoelectronic components

  • Develop sensor, detector, control, power, and driver electronics

  • Take systems from breadboard to brassboard, integrated prototype, and production-ready hardware

  • Design compact multi-board electrical systems

  • Perform circuit modeling, simulation, analysis, debugging, and validation

  • Develop electronics for imaging and non-imaging optical systems

  • Work with LIDAR, range-finding, optical detection, or related sensing technologies

  • Design systems that function reliably under shock, vibration, temperature, and other environmental stresses

  • Collaborate with mechanical and optical engineers on tightly integrated systems

  • Support bring-up, test automation, qualification, documentation, and early production

  • Safely assemble and test high-power electronic circuitry

Minimum Qualifications

  • Significant experience in electrical circuit design and hardware development

  • Experience designing electronics for optical, optoelectronic, or sensor systems

  • Strong analog and digital electronics knowledge

  • Understanding of analog limitations and noise effects in digital systems

  • Experience with circuit simulation, modeling, and analysis tools

  • Hands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging, testing, and integration

  • Experience moving systems from early prototype stages toward deployable hardware

  • Ability to thrive in an applied research and rapid-development environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with missile seeker or sensor electronics

  • Experience with LIDAR, laser range finders, optical detectors, imaging systems, or non-imaging optical systems

  • Experience designing compact electronics comprising multiple boards and components

  • Strong mixed-signal, low-noise, sensor-interface, control, or power-electronics background

  • Experience with high-power driver electronics

  • Understanding of interactions between electrical systems, thermal behavior, mechanical design, and environmental stresses

  • Experience supporting hardware through prototype, environmental qualification, and early production

  • Aerospace, defense, robotics, autonomous systems, or advanced instrumentation experience

Ideal Background

The ideal candidate has taken missile seekers, optical sensors, electro-optical payloads, or similarly complex systems from initial circuit architecture through integration, environmental testing, and fabrication.

We are looking for an engineer who combines deep technical expertise with hands-on execution and can take full ownership of difficult multidisciplinary hardware problems.
