About the Role
GAF is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support a specified client group/plant location. Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner, this role will serve as a trusted HR advisor to leadership and employees while supporting organizational design, performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, talent management, HR programs, leadership development, and change management.
The ideal candidate is a strong HR business partner with expertise in employee relations, HR programs, change management, engagement strategy, leadership development, organizational design, performance management, HR laws/regulations, and policy management. This person should be a servant leader who operates with integrity, discretion, and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes.
Act as a liaison between Operations and HR to ensure HR services align with business needs.
Partner with senior leadership on HR, organizational development, and leadership development initiatives.
Manage employee relations activities in accordance with company guidelines, mission, values, and goals.
Provide HR expertise regarding employment laws, regulations, and HR practices.
Research HR-related issues and recommend solutions, process improvements, and policy changes aligned with GAF strategy and culture.
Champion the Talent Management Process and ensure timely, accurate, and fair performance assessments.
Support employee development opportunities and help managers plan talent pipelines.
Participate in evaluating and monitoring training program effectiveness.
Develop and conduct employee orientation and training programs.
Support workforce planning and analysis, including workforce size, skills, experience, knowledge, and quality requirements.
Provide guidance on business restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
Analyze HR trends and metrics to develop effective programs, solutions, and policies.
Promote workplace safety and health awareness through communications, newsletters, and training.
Audit manufacturing plant practices and records for compliance with company programs and federal/state OSHA requirements.
Champion the Strategic Labor Relations Plan for the facility.
Ensure consistent application of corporate and plant policies and practices.
Communicate HR programs and policies to plant staff and respond to related questions.
Capture and communicate desired changes to plant policies and practices.
Stay current on existing and proposed federal/state HR laws and regulations and advise management and employees accordingly.
Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
Conduct thorough, effective, and objective employee investigations.
Maintain regular contact with employees to identify, anticipate, and resolve workplace issues.
Develop and execute proactive employee engagement programs to improve management credibility, working relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
Manage assigned HR projects and participate in annual HR planning, corporate HR project teams, and cross-functional initiatives.
Required Technical Skills
Entry to intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
Entry to intermediate Training & Development skills.
Intermediate Recruiting skills.
Intermediate to advanced Employee Relations skills.
Familiarity with OSHA reporting, regulations, and compliance.
HRIS experience; Workday preferred.
Intermediate skills with Google Suite.
Ability to learn and adapt to new HR systems and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications
Progressive HR experience in a manufacturing, industrial, distribution, production, big-box, or wholesale retail environment.
SHRM-CP and/or PHR certification.
Experience with Workday.
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related discipline.
3–5+ years of demonstrated HR/Employee Relations experience.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability with strong time management and prioritization skills.
