Job description

We are looking for a CMBS and Real Estate Capital Markets Associate with 3-7 years of experience to join our Miami office. This role is crucial for servicing a major institutional client, handling complex commercial real estate finance matters nationwide.

What will you be doing?

  • Drafting and negotiating loan agreements, mortgage documents, and related transaction documents for CMBS loans.

  • Handling loan modifications, consents, assumptions, and other post-closing work for performing loans.

  • Managing workouts and special servicing for non-performing loans, including forbearance agreements and restructurings.

  • Representing CMBS loan servicers, special servicers, and institutional lenders.

  • Coordinating with rating agencies, trustees, and other parties specific to CMBS transactions.

Key Requirements

  • 3-7 years of relevant transactional finance experience as a practicing attorney.

  • Florida Bar admission, or eligibility for admission.

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for finance agreements, modifications, consents, and workouts.

  • Strong academic credentials.

  • Excellent communication skills.

• Major institutional client with steady nationwide deal flow - The practice serves "a very important institutional client" with CMBS servicer and special servicer work across performing and non-performing loans.

• 1:1 partner-to-associate leverage with transparent partnership track - Much flatter structure than typical Big Law with clear 8-year partnership timeline and formal check-ins for associates within 3 years of consideration.

• Competitive comp with Florida tax advantages - Base salary ~$10K below NY scale but zero state income tax plus historical excess profit bonuses 2 out of 3 years.

• Sophisticated CMBS work without the Big Law grind - Handle complex nationwide CMBS originations, modifications, and workouts in Miami with hybrid flexibility and office-forward culture.

• Full relocation support for out-of-market hires - Firm covers moving expenses and Florida bar admission costs, with strong track record of successful NY lateral hires.
