Embedded Software Developer

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Developer with strong RDK-B and broadband gateway experience to design, develop, integrate, and troubleshoot software for next-generation gateway and extender products.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Embedded C, Embedded Linux, RDK-B/OpenWrt/prplOS, networking protocols, firewall technologies, and broadband gateway platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain embedded software components for broadband gateway and extender products.

• Develop and enhance features related to:

  • Parental Controls

  • Firewall / iptables

  • DHCP

  • SNMP

  • TR-069 / TR-181

  • Network Management

• Debug and troubleshoot issues across Embedded Linux kernel and user space.

• Analyze packet flows, networking issues, system behavior, and performance problems.

• Collaborate with engineering teams, platform teams, and technology vendors for product integration and compliance.

• Troubleshoot and resolve customer-reported product issues.

• Optimize system performance, stability, and reliability.

• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, GTest/GMock, and CI/CD activities.

• Develop reliable and maintainable code following software engineering best practices.

Must-Have Skills

• 3+ years of Embedded Software Development experience.

• Strong programming experience in C; C++ is a plus.

• Hands-on experience with RDK-B, OpenWrt, or prplOS.

• Strong understanding of Broadband Gateway / Home Gateway architecture.

• Strong Embedded Linux experience, including:

  • Linux kernel concepts

  • User-space applications

  • System-level debugging

• Strong networking fundamentals:

  • TCP/IP

  • DHCP

  • DNS

  • HTTP

  • IPv4/IPv6

  • Packet flow

• Hands-on experience with firewall / iptables.

• Knowledge of IPv6 transition technologies.

• Experience with Git/Gerrit.

• Strong debugging experience using tools such as:

  • GDB

  • Valgrind

  • Wireshark

  • tcpdump

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex embedded environments.

Good-to-Have Skills
