About the Role:

The Distribution Hazmat Driver plays a critical role in the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous materials across various distribution points within the United States. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing the handling and transportation of hazardous goods, thereby protecting public safety and the environment. The driver is responsible for the secure loading, transport, and timely delivery of hazardous materials, maintaining the integrity of the cargo throughout the journey. Additionally, the role involves meticulous documentation and communication with dispatch and receiving parties to ensure smooth logistics operations. Ultimately, the Distribution Hazmat Driver contributes to the company’s reputation for reliability and safety in hazardous materials distribution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement.

  • Clean driving record with no major violations in the past three years.

  • Knowledge of and compliance with DOT regulations for hazardous materials transportation.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background checks.

  • Physical ability to perform vehicle inspections, load/unload materials, and handle emergency situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Hazmat driver or in hazardous materials handling.

  • Training or certification in hazardous materials safety and emergency response.

  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate commercial vehicles to transport hazardous materials safely and efficiently to designated locations.

  • Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies related to hazardous materials handling and transportation.

  • Inspect vehicles and hazardous material loads before and after trips to ensure safety and compliance standards are met.

  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle inspections, and any incidents or delays encountered during transport.

  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and regulatory agencies to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies or incidents involving hazardous materials during transit.

  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
