The Project Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of company's Global Energy Strategy Program. The position supports the development of a portfolio-wide energy strategy, including establishing an energy baseline, evaluating future energy supply options, forecasting energy demand, developing implementation roadmaps, and creating governance frameworks across company's global operations. The role serves as the primary coordination point between stakeholders, site teams, corporate functions, and external consulting partners.

Primary Purpose

The role exists to ensure the successful delivery of the Global Energy Strategy Program by:

  • Managing program execution within scope, schedule, and budget

  • Coordinating internal and external stakeholders across multiple global regions

  • Supporting energy modeling, forecasting, and pathway assessments

  • Maintaining governance, risk management, and quality assurance processes

  • Translating strategic energy objectives into disciplined project execution and actionable implementation plans

Key responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Coordination (20%): Maintain program work plan, baseline schedule, work packages (WP1–WP5), milestones, and deliverables register

  • Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination (20%): Coordinate across corporate functions, regional/site stakeholders, and the Consultant team; facilitate workshops and validation reviews

  • Project Controls & Reporting (15%): Track schedule, budget, forecasts, KPIs; prepare weekly PMO updates and monthly status reports

  • Data, Baseline & Modeling Support (15%): Support data collection, validation, and reconciliation for the portfolio energy baseline and demand forecast

  • Risk & Change Management (10%): Maintain risk/opportunity register; manage change control through the Joint PMO

  • Deliverable QA (10%): Coordinate peer review/QA on key deliverables (Baseline Model, Demand Forecast, Strategy Report, Governance Framework)

  • Document Management & Governance (5%): Maintain document repository, version control, decision logs

  • HSS & Compliance (5%): Ensure compliance with HSS standards for travel and site engagement

Mandatory requirements:

  • BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Energy, Mining, or related) and/or Project/Construction Management

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in project engineering, project controls, or program delivery — ideally mining, energy, or heavy industry capital projects

  • Demonstrated experience on multi-phase, multi-stakeholder programs with external delivery partners (tier-1 advisory/EPCM firms)

  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Power BI; strong WBS, baseline scheduling, change control, and KPI reporting skills

  • Strong analytical skills — able to QA modeling outputs (energy baselines, demand forecasts, financial/economic analysis)

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, comfortable engaging ELT sponsors and executive stakeholders

  • Strong document control discipline and commitment to traceability/auditability

  • Spanish fluency a plus
