Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AMI Project Manager – System Integration Lead to play a critical leadership role in a multi-year, enterprise-scale Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment. This role will lead the System Integration scope of the AMI program, ensuring seamless, secure, and reliable integration of AMI head-end and meter data systems with core utility operational and enterprise platforms.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience delivering large AMI software deployments, strong utility domain knowledge, and proven success coordinating complex integrations across DMS, EMS, SCADA, GIS, OMS, and MDM platforms.

This role is both strategic and execution-focused, requiring deep collaboration with vendors, internal IT/OT teams, and utility business stakeholders.

Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Integration Leadership

  • Serve as the primary owner of the AMI System Integration scope across the full program lifecycle (design through go-live and stabilization).

  • Lead integration of AMI / Head-End Systems (HES) and Meter Data Management (MDM) platforms with:

    • Distribution Management System (DMS)

    • Energy Management System (EMS)

    • SCADA

    • Geographic Information System (GIS)

    • Outage Management System (OMS)

    • Enterprise Data Platforms and Analytics tools

  • Define and manage end-to-end integration architecture, data flows, interfaces, and dependencies.

AMI Software Deployment

  • Lead system integration activities for AMI solutions, including platforms such as Itron Distributed Intelligence (DI).

  • Coordinate closely with AMI vendors, system integrators, and internal IT/OT teams to ensure alignment across environments.

  • Ensure integration designs support real-time, near-real-time, and batch data use cases.

Program & Project Management

  • Develop and manage detailed integration workplans, schedules, milestones, and dependencies within the broader AMI program.

  • Track risks, issues, and mitigation strategies related to integration complexity, data quality, and system performance.

  • Lead integration testing phases including SIT, UAT, cutover, and go-live readiness.

  • Support regulatory, cybersecurity, and compliance requirements related to AMI data and system interoperability.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary integration liaison between:

    • AMI vendors

    • Enterprise application vendors (DMS/OMS/MDM/GIS)

    • Internal IT, OT, cybersecurity, and operations teams

  • Translate business and operational requirements into technical integration requirements.

  • Facilitate architecture reviews, design approvals, and cross-system decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in utility technology delivery, with direct AMI deployment experience.

  • Proven experience managing large-scale AMI programs or complex utility system implementations.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • AMI Head-End Systems (HES)

    • Meter Data Management (MDM)

    • Utility operational systems (DMS, EMS, SCADA, OMS, GIS)

  • Demonstrated success leading system integration workstreams in multi-vendor environments.

  • Experience working across IT/OT boundaries within electric or gas utilities.

  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AMI Distributed Intelligence (DI) use cases and edge analytics.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and protocols (CIM, MultiSpeak, IEC, REST APIs).

  • Experience supporting regulatory filings, audits, or commission oversight for AMI programs.

  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.

  • Background in digital grid modernization, ADMS, or advanced distribution automation initiatives.

What Success Looks Like

  • AMI data flows reliably and securely across all enterprise and operational systems.

  • Integration risks are identified early and mitigated proactively.

  • Business and operational teams receive accurate, timely data to support outage management, grid operations, billing, and analytics.

  • The AMI program delivers long-term value through scalable, well-architected system integrations.
