In-House Photographer (Part-Time)

Part-time
On-site
$15-19/hr
Pocatello, ID 83201

Flexible Working Hours

Job description

We are hiring a part-time Photographer to join our team in Pocatello. This position may offer full-time hours during periods of higher demand. Candidates who consistently meet our standards and demonstrate the ability to take on additional media responsibilities—such as videography and other types of client photography—may eventually be considered for a permanent full-time position with benefits.

This is not a studio-only role. It is a hands-on, primarily outdoor, fast-moving position that plays a critical role in how businesses—especially automotive dealerships—present their inventory and brands online.

If you enjoy being active, working independently, and producing consistent, high-quality images at scale, this may be a strong fit.

Position Overview

Approximately 70%–90% of your weekly time will be dedicated to servicing the local dealerships we work with.

This includes:

  • Traveling between dealership locations

  • Photographing dealership vehicles according to our established process and required shot list

  • Maintaining consistency in angles, lighting, framing, image quality, and overall workflow

  • Returning to the Manticore office to edit photos efficiently

  • Uploading finalized images to dealership websites according to the required specifications

The remaining 10%–30% of your weekly time may involve:

  • Client promotional shoots

  • Team and employee photos

  • On-location business photography

  • Other photography and media-related marketing projects

Your ability to successfully support these additional types of media work will be an important factor in determining whether the role expands into full-time employment.

Work Environment & Expectations

This is primarily an outdoor position.

Pocatello’s weather is unpredictable and includes hot summers, cold winters, wind, rain, and snow. You must be willing and able to:

  • Work in extreme cold and extreme heat

  • Continue working during light rain or snow when safety, equipment, and image quality are not affected

  • Maintain productivity despite uncomfortable weather conditions

This is also an active, physical role. You will be on your feet for much of the day and regularly moving around dealership lots.

Must-Have Qualifications (Non-Negotiables)

If you do not meet these requirements, please do not apply.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Clean driving record with no accidents

  • Ability to drive a manual-transmission vehicle, as some dealership vehicles have manual transmissions

  • Working knowledge of DSLR or mirrorless camera fundamentals, including shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and white balance

  • Physical ability to:

  • Walk approximately 1–3 miles per day

  • Bend and squat repeatedly and with ease

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Ability and willingness to work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency

  • Ability to follow a structured photography process without cutting corners

  • Self-motivation and efficiency when working independently

  • Ability to move quickly without sacrificing image quality

  • Professional communication when interacting with clients and dealership staff

  • Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to complete work without constant supervision

  • Interest in developing additional photography, videography, and media-production skills

This role is about execution and reliability as much as creativity.

Compensation

Pay ranges from $15.00–$19.00 per hour, depending on:

  • Schedule availability and ability to accept additional hours during periods of higher demand

  • Photography and media-production experience

  • Efficiency, consistency, and quality of work

  • Ability to successfully take on photography and media projects beyond dealership inventory

Performance-based bonuses and commission opportunities may also be available based on qualifying work, productivity, and company needs.

Why This Role Matters

Dealership inventory photography directly affects how vehicles are presented and sold online. The quality, consistency, and speed of your work can influence how quickly inventory moves.
