Build the Future of AI-Powered Mechanical Engineering

Hestus is a YC-backed startup building AI-powered CAD software and a foundation model for mechanical engineering. We’re looking for a Software Engineer with 4–7+ years of backend experience who thrives in early-stage environments and can take products from 0→1 through production.

You’ll work directly with the CTO and founding engineer to build and ship high-impact software at startup speed.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build production backend systems in Python
• Develop APIs and services using Django, Flask, and SQL
• Build data pipelines and backend infrastructure from concept to production
• Integrate backend systems with desktop CAD/native applications on macOS or Windows
• Own features and technical decisions end-to-end
• Deploy and operate services using AWS/GCP and Docker
• Make pragmatic engineering trade-offs while maintaining long-term code quality

What We’re Looking For

• 4–7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
• Strong Python and production backend development experience
• Experience with Django, Flask, SQL, and API development
• Proven 0→1 ownership of a codebase, product, or major feature
• Experience working at an early-stage startup
• Experience with desktop/native application development on macOS or Windows
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong ownership, autonomy, curiosity, and ability to ship independently

Nice to have: Experience with CAD, 3D software, gaming, computational geometry, or engineering software.
