Job description

About The Company

Our company builds a SaaS platform for finance and treasury teams at local governments, covering reconciliation, reporting, cash flow forecasting, and AI-powered financial insights, with a long-term vision to be the one-stop shop for financial services for public agencies. The company has raised $7 million in total funding, has progressed beyond the pilot stage with five live customers, and is targeting 15 clients by year end. The founding team brings deep fintech and government finance experience, with ex-finance directors as both advisors and team members.

About the Role

We are hiring two Founding BDRs to open doors and build the top-of-funnel pipeline that powers the company's growth across California and, eventually, the broader Western US and beyond. These are the first two seats on the sales team, working directly alongside the head of go-to-market on cold calls, email outreach, and LinkedIn to generate qualified meetings with finance and treasury leaders at local government agencies. The BDR who earns it can move into an account executive role, with upward mobility tied to hitting activity and meeting targets, not a fixed tenure clock.

What You'll Own

1. Own top-of-funnel outreach via cold calls, email, and LinkedIn to finance and treasury teams at local government agencies

2. Generate qualified meetings for the head of go-to-market, ensuring prospects show up and the conversationsare substantive

3. Build and maintain relationships with government agency contacts, moving beyond transactional outreach to genuine relationship development

4. Manage pipeline activity and follow-through in the CRM, keeping outreach cadences consistent and organized

5. Collaborate directly with leadership to refine messaging, targeting, and outreach strategy as the sales motion scales from California to the Western US and beyond

Must-Have Requirements

1. True grit and willingness to put in the reps: this is a high-activity, consistency-driven role with no existing playbook

2. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to maintain follow-up and build real relationships, not just set meetings

3. Genuine interest in the mission of making public money work harder for government agencies, demonstrated through a cover letter or clear articulation of fit

4. Authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship available)

5. Based in or willing to relocate to Santa Monica, Los Angeles, for in-person work five days a week

Nice-to-Have

1. Prior internship or work experience in sales, partnerships, or a customer-facing role

2. CRM experience and familiarity with outbound sales tools

3. Background in economics, political science, business, or government, showing affinity for the public sector

4. Experience in or exposure to GovTech, fintech, or enterprise software that sells to local governments (companies like OpenGov, ClearGov, Tyler Technologies, or Oracle)

5. Competitive background, such as collegiate athletics or campaign or political office activity, as a signal of grit and drive to perform

Compensation

1. $70K-$85K base, uncapped commission (structure being finalized), targeting $30K OTE variable, no cap.
