Job Summary

Cisco is looking for an AI-Native Software Engineer with strong AWS expertise who can build and deploy scalable, secure, customer-facing web applications. The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience using AI throughout the software development lifecycle.

The candidate should be comfortable designing high-performance systems, leveraging managed AWS services, reviewing AI-generated code, and using modern AI-assisted/spec-driven development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain large-scale production web applications hosted on AWS and/or on-premises environments.

• Apply AI technologies across the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, story decomposition, coding, testing, debugging, defect resolution, and deployment.

• Develop scalable and high-performance solutions using appropriate AWS managed services.

• Evaluate architecture and technical designs with a focus on performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.

• Use AI-assisted coding and testing to improve software development productivity and quality.

• Review AI-generated code and identify potential bugs, security vulnerabilities, performance issues, and architectural risks.

• Follow spec-driven development and modern AI-native engineering practices.

• Build secure, fault-tolerant systems capable of supporting a large customer base.

• Collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams to drive technical decisions and project delivery.

• Quickly adopt new AI tools, frameworks, and engineering approaches.

• Provide technical leadership and communicate architectural trade-offs effectively to stakeholders.

Software Development

• Strong server-side development experience with one or more of:

  • Python

  • Node.js

• Experience with client-side web technologies such as:

  • React

  • JavaScript

  • Backbone or comparable frameworks

Distributed / Large-Scale Systems

• Experience designing secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems.

• Hands-on experience with technologies such as:

  • Kafka

  • Elasticsearch

  • MongoDB

  • Oracle

  • CockroachDB

AI-Native Development

• Proven experience leveraging Generative AI/AI tools throughout SDLC.

• AI-assisted software development and testing.

• Automated defect identification and resolution.

• Experience with spec-driven development and AI-assisted coding workflows.

• Ability to evaluate and validate AI-generated code.
