Salary: $120,000–$150,000 per year (Higher compensation may be considered for exceptional candidates)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to join our engineering team in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will design, develop, and support advanced electronics for subsea motion control products, including underwater propulsion systems, electric actuators, electro-hydraulic systems, and power transmission equipment.

You will collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, procurement, suppliers, sales, and customers while leading custom engineering projects from concept through production.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for subsea equipment, including thruster motors, actuators, sensors, and propulsion systems.
  • Design and develop brushless motor drivers and supporting power electronics.
  • Develop electromechanical products including rotary and linear actuators, hydraulic pumps, and propulsion thrusters.
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM creation, prototype development, and testing.
  • Design embedded hardware utilizing microcontrollers, PWM, ADCs, DACs, and serial communication interfaces.
  • Improve existing products for performance, manufacturability, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Support manufacturing during assembly, integration, and testing.
  • Supervise technicians during PCB assembly and product integration.
  • Create wiring diagrams, technical documentation, and assembly instructions.
  • Lead design reviews and DFMEA/PFMEA activities.
  • Serve as Project Engineer for custom engineering projects.
  • Participate in customer meetings, technical discussions, and project updates.
  • Provide remote technical support with occasional travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
