POSITION OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks to ensure that all client aquatic facilities are safe, operational, balanced, and pristine. This role includes routine pool cleaning, water chemistry management, preventative maintenance, and aquatic equipment repair. The technician will serve as a key on-site contact for clients and health inspectors, upholding all local safety and health code standards.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Water Chemistry & Chemical Handling
Conduct regular water testing — including but not limited to chlorine/bromine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, and cyanuric acid.
Dose and administer pool chemicals to maintain perfectly balanced water according to health department standards.
Safely handle, transport, and store hazardous chemicals (e.g., liquid chlorine, muriatic acid) in compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols.
Routine Pool Cleaning & Maintenance
Skim the pool surface, vacuum the pool floor, and thoroughly brush pool and spa walls.
Empty skimmer baskets, pump strainer baskets, and automatic cleaner bags.
Perform routine filter maintenance, including backwashing sand/DE filters and breaking down and cleaning cartridge filters.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pump room and chemical storage areas.
Equipment Repair & Troubleshooting
Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot aquatic mechanical systems, including pool pumps, motors, heaters, and chemical feeders.
Perform basic PVC plumbing repairs and replace valves or O-rings as necessary to prevent leaks and maintain system pressure.
Assist in new equipment setup and system installations (e.g., upgrading to variable speed pumps or installing salt cells).
Safety & Compliance
Maintain accurate daily chemical logs and maintenance reports for facility records and health department inspections.
Verify safety signs, emergency phones, and all required safety equipment are present and functional at each facility.
Ensure gates are closed and locked, and that all pool features comply with local health codes during every visit.
Client Communication & Professionalism
Serve as a professional, courteous on-site representative of Swim Club Management Group.
Communicate clearly with property managers, on-site staff, and residents regarding pool conditions, service notes, and any items requiring attention.
Report issues promptly and document service visits through the company's service reporting platform (Skimmer).
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between multiple pool facilities daily.
Prior experience in pool maintenance, aquatic facility management, or a related trade preferred.
Working knowledge of pool water chemistry and chemical handling procedures.
Basic mechanical aptitude — comfort with pumps, filters, heaters, and PVC plumbing.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently across a route of assigned facilities.
Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors in all weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, safe, and visually pristine facilities.
SCHEDULE
Seasonal role with primary hours during the pool season (typically April–October).
Flexible scheduling required; early morning starts are common.
Some weekend availability may be required based on route assignments.
COMPENSATION
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
Mileage reimbursement for travel between facilities.
