Job description

A seed-stage company is building an AI-native converged security operations platform for physical security operations. The platform unifies cyber intelligence, physical systems of record, and human/robotic response orchestration into a single operating layer, automating the Detect → Decide → Act workflow.

The company operates two divisions: a software/SaaS platform and an organic guard operations division. Target customers operate under overlapping regulatory mandates (SOC 2, NERC CIP, ITAR, CMMC, CFATS) at high-security sites where traditional guard staffing is structurally broken.

A fully functional working demo has been built. Platform architecture, data model, API contracts, and UI specifications are defined. Active design partner relationships are in progress with enterprise operators. The company has closed a seed round.

The Role

The front end is where our promise is kept or lost. We're hiring a founding full-stack engineer with an emphasis on the front end to own the operator-facing surface end to end — from the React/TypeScript application a supervisor watches through a twelve-hour shift, back through the APIs, real-time event streams, and data model that feed it.

You'll set the patterns the rest of the engineering team builds against, and your work will be in front of real operators in critical environments within the first deployment cycles. This is a founding seat with outsized influence over architecture, tooling, and how the product feels in someone's hands.

What you'll build

  • Operator workspaces. Role-specific surfaces — a live operations console (map, alert queue, dispatch, timeline), a compliance command center, an executive dashboard — with access boundaries enforced between them.

  • A detect → decide → act loop. Every screen moves an operator from a prioritized alert to context to a confirmed response in three clicks or fewer, fast and legible under pressure.

  • Real-time everything. Live alert streams, position tracking, telemetry, and map/video overlays over WebSocket. The UI updates as the world changes, not on refresh.

  • An object-centric UI. Every entity — site, zone, person, sensor, incident, control — is a first-class object with typed properties, relationships, and actions, not a row in a table.

  • The seam behind it. REST/JSON contracts and WebSocket channels over a real-time data layer. You work both sides of the boundary and shape endpoints to serve the UI.

  • A front end that runs anywhere. Cloud, on-prem, and fully air-gapped — the web app has to run with no outbound connectivity, self-hosted assets, offline by design.

  • A design system. Dark, high-contrast, action-first, tuned for 24/7 low-light control rooms. You extend and enforce it as the team grows.

The stack

React + TypeScript · real-time WebSocket · Mapbox GL JS · Recharts · a PostgreSQL / time-series data layer · Redis · an event bus · JWT / SSO / RBAC. Containerized; deployed to cloud, on-prem (Kubernetes / K3s), and air-gapped targets.

We're pragmatic about tools and opinionated about outcomes. If you'd reach for something better, we want to hear it.

What we're looking for

  • Senior full-stack depth, front-end center of gravity. ~6+ years shipping production web apps, with React and TypeScript as a genuine strength. You've owned complex, stateful, real-time interfaces — not just assembled component libraries.

  • Real-time UI experience. You've built interfaces driven by live data and understand the state-management and performance discipline they demand.

  • Comfort across the seam. You design and build the APIs behind your UI and reason fluently about the data model underneath. You're not blocked waiting on a backend team.

  • Design sensibility. You care how things look and feel, can extend a design system without breaking it, and treat accessibility and information density as engineering concerns.

  • Founding temperament. Comfortable with ambiguity and constraints, you make reversible decisions quickly and would rather ship production code at a real site than perfect an architecture deck.

  • Operator empathy. You build for the person on the other side of the screen — here, someone making fast, high-stakes calls under load — and you sweat the details that earn their trust.

Strongly preferred

  • Operations-center, command-and-control, GSOC/SOC, monitoring, or other mission-critical real-time tooling.

  • Containerized / Kubernetes (K3s) deployment, especially on-prem or air-gapped with no outbound connectivity.

  • Interactive mapping (Mapbox GL JS or similar) and data visualization.

  • Any background in security, critical infrastructure, video analytics, fleet, or robotics.

The details

  • Team: Founding engineering — among the first engineers building the platform end to end.

  • Location: Greater Seattle area.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary plus meaningful founding-team equity, discussed individually.

  • The work matters. We build AI systems that watch, track, and record people, and we treat that as a responsibility: privacy by design, on-device processing where possible, and AI that augments human accountability rather than replacing it.
