Job Title: Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Juneau, AK
Job Type: Contract (13 Weeks)
Shift: Monday – Friday (Rotating Shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician to join a healthcare team supporting surgical and clinical services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, inspection, packaging, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment while ensuring compliance with infection control standards and sterilization guidelines.
Candidates must be experienced enough to work independently and maintain the highest standards of quality and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
Perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and packaging of surgical instruments and medical equipment.
Disassemble and inspect instruments to ensure complete removal of debris and bioburden before sterilization.
Operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, according to established procedures.
Follow manufacturer instructions, infection control protocols, and industry sterilization standards.
Monitor, document, and validate sterilization cycles and biological monitoring results.
Maintain accurate sterilization and quality assurance records.
Troubleshoot instrument shortages and coordinate appropriate alternatives with clinical staff.
Identify equipment requiring maintenance or repair and remove defective equipment from service.
Assist with inventory management, product ordering, stocking, and supply organization.
Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and team training as required.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience with the ability to work independently.
Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD), or
Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current Flu Vaccination is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a healthcare or surgical environment.
Knowledge of infection prevention and sterile processing standards.
Experience with surgical instrumentation and instrument care.
Inventory management experience.
Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
Excellent attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
