About the company
An early-stage, AI-native freight brokerage rebuilding how independent freight agents run their businesses. Most agents still work out of dated, fragmented software and lose much of the day to manual admin, so the company gives them automation for quoting, carrier sourcing, email, and fraud checks, along with better commission splits and hands-on operational backup. It moved its first shipment only months ago, and the agents on the platform already represent high six figures in annual recurring revenue. The company was built by an experienced venture studio with a record of launching category leaders, and it has the capital to keep scaling.
The role
You'll join a four-person team that plans to roughly double by the end of the year, reporting directly to the CEO and working as a peer to the product lead and two founding engineers. The work splits about 65% engineering and 35% product. You'll sit with freight agents to find what slows them down, decide with the product lead what to build, and then build it yourself across the interface, API, and data model, usually going from conversation to production within days. You'll also have a real say in the architecture, the roadmap, and how the business grows.
What you'll do
Interview independent freight agents about their workflows, then turn what you learn into product requirements alongside the product lead
Ship full-stack features (UI, APIs, data models) on a platform that automates quoting, shipper and carrier email, and fraud detection
Build analytics that show agents where their book of business has room to grow
Run user tests with agents, watch how they actually use new features, and iterate quickly on what you see
Use AI tools at every step, from research and prototyping through coding and testing
Help shape the system architecture and engineering practices for a team that is growing fast
What you must bring
3+ years of experience as a product engineer or full-stack engineer
At least 1 year at a seed or Series A startup, building and shipping products from 0-to-1
Experience building software for professional users, such as dashboards, admin tools, or internal operations tools
Hands-on work with TypeScript on the backend and Next.js on the frontend
Experience deploying and running applications on GCP
An AI-native engineering workflow: you rely on AI tooling daily for research, coding, and testing
Strong product judgment and a habit of starting from the user's actual problem
A BS in computer science or another STEM field
Comfort with fast release cycles, high ownership, and working with little structure
Nice to have
Prior experience as a founder or founding engineer at a venture-backed startup
A background that pairs time at a larger, product-driven tech company with at least one early-stage startup role
Experience building analytics or workflow automation for business users
Compensation & logistics
$160K to $200K base salary plus competitive equity, with a flexible mix of cash and equity
Relocation support available
Hybrid, on-site four days a week in Brooklyn, NY
Open to visa transfers, including OPT and H-1B transfers
