About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Developer / Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our team in Conroe, Texas.

The Business Developer will generate new business by identifying and qualifying prospects, engaging business owners and decision-makers, conducting phone and face-to-face sales activities, and developing long-term client relationships.

This is a high-activity, field-oriented sales role requiring confidence, persistence, excellent communication, and strong consultative selling skills. The ideal candidate is comfortable with cold calling, networking, in-person prospecting, objection handling, and consistent follow-up.

Primary Performance Goal

Generate an average of 2 new clients per week.

Key Responsibilities

1. Generate New Business

  • Identify and prospect potential business clients within the assigned territory.
  • Qualify prospects based on business needs, staffing requirements, budget, hiring volume, and timeline.
  • Engage business owners, hiring managers, HR professionals, and other decision-makers.
  • Respond to buying signals and use effective qualifying questions.
  • Schedule qualified meetings and facilitate a smooth handoff to the Employment Specialist.
  • Educate prospects on staffing services and the company's process.
  • Introduce staffing agreements and new-account paperwork.
  • Collaborate with Employment Specialists to move job orders toward fulfillment.
  • Re-engage prospects when additional sales activity is required.

2. Maintain High Sales Activity

  • Generate opportunities through cold calling, face-to-face prospecting, networking, referrals, and outbound sales.
  • Complete approximately 120 total sales calls per week, including approximately 100 face-to-face visits.
  • Complete a minimum of 60 Decision-Maker (DM) conversations per week.
  • Conduct approximately 5 strategic appointments per week with qualified decision-makers.
  • Document 100% of daily sales activity in the automated sales system.
  • Set a clear next action for every active prospect.
  • Execute the daily sales plan and handle objections professionally.
  • Record sales outcomes using the Results Pipeline Activity (RPA) tracker.

3. Manage the Sales Pipeline

  • Prospect approximately 800–1,000 accounts per quarter.
  • Identify new opportunities through discovery calls, appointments, telephone outreach, referrals, and field visits.
  • Review sales activity weekly and identify high-potential prospects likely to close within 90 days.
  • Maintain and prioritize a Top 20 Hit List.
  • Execute strategic weekly follow-ups with priority accounts.
  • Keep pipeline information, activities, and next steps accurate and current.

4. Manage the Sales Territory

  • Divide the market into approximately 4–5 territory segments.
  • Assign territory segments to weekdays based on business potential and location.
  • Categorize prospects and establish appropriate contact frequency.
  • Plan daily activities in advance using the automated sales system.
  • Schedule field visits around appointments to maximize productivity.
  • Prospect nearby businesses during field visits to maximize territory coverage.

5. Deliver Consultative, Value-Added Sales

  • Stay informed about local employment and labor-market trends.
  • Use relevant workforce insights and educational resources to provide value to prospects.
  • Participate in knowledge-based sales campaigns or educational initiatives.
  • Anticipate client workforce needs and recommend appropriate staffing solutions.
  • Develop existing client relationships and identify opportunities for account expansion and cross-selling.
  • Participate, with management approval, in local organizations such as Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development Boards.
  • Use networking to build professional relationships and generate qualified leads.

6. Collaborate With the Internal Team

  • Work closely with Employment Specialists and internal team members.
  • Review territory plans, opportunities, candidate inventory, and sales priorities.
  • Communicate daily schedules and field activities.
  • Share qualified leads promptly.
  • Take Most Placeable Candidate (MPC) profiles into the field when appropriate.
  • Provide complete job-order information to Employment Specialists.
  • Help move qualified opportunities toward successful staffing fulfillment.

7. Compliance & Professional Development

  • Follow company policies and applicable federal and state employment laws.
  • Maintain awareness of regulations including FLSA, Title VII, ADA, and FMLA.
  • Participate in coaching, ride-alongs, training, and professional development.
  • Continuously develop knowledge of staffing, recruiting, workforce solutions, and local labor markets.

None.

This is an individual-contributor position. The Business Developer will collaborate extensively with Employment Specialists and the internal team but will not have direct employee-management responsibility.
