Applied AI Engineer

TalentReach is hiring on behalf of an innovative client building an AI-native consumer travel platform focused on creating a more intelligent, personalized, and seamless way to plan and book travel.

The team is building for a future where AI is not a novelty but the baseline expectation, and they are seeking engineers who want to help define that future through real-world products used at scale.

We are seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build the intelligent AI layer powering the company’s travel experience. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on translating state-of-the-art AI techniques into reliable, safe, and scalable consumer-facing products.

The ideal candidate combines strong machine learning expertise with practical engineering skills and can move beyond basic LLM integrations to build sophisticated agentic systems, orchestration frameworks, evaluation pipelines, and safety mechanisms for production environments.

What You'll Do

• Design and build agentic AI systems and orchestration layers

• Develop prompting strategies and multi-step stateful workflows

• Build tool-calling architectures with robust guardrails and safety controls

• Create consent-aware long-term memory systems that improve personalization over time

• Design structured context models and persona extraction frameworks

• Develop autonomous optimization and decision-making logic

• Implement real-time monitoring, intervention, and observability systems

• Build evaluation frameworks that measure quality, safety, cost, determinism, and model performance

• Partner closely with product and engineering teams to bring AI capabilities into customer-facing experiences

• Translate emerging AI research into practical, scalable production solutions

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field

• 5+ years of experience training large-scale deep learning models and large language models

• Experience building and deploying AI systems used by real customers at scale

• Strong understanding of modern AI architectures, model behavior, and production deployment challenges

• Ability to move beyond generic LLM wrappers and build differentiated AI experiences

• Experience translating research concepts into safe, reliable production systems

• Experience developing evaluation frameworks for agentic workflows and AI systems

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with frontier commercial and open-weight AI models

• Experience with AWS, Vercel, or similar cloud-native and serverless platforms

• Familiarity with durable workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal

• Experience with LLM observability and evaluation tools such as Braintrust or LangSmith

• Experience building persistent memory architectures and long-term context systems

• Familiarity with relational and vector database technologies

• Experience with AI runtimes supporting streaming, tool execution, and agent orchestration

• Experience developing AI-powered consumer products
