The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office. This candidate will be working directly with clients providing consulting services.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and Industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction, utility infrastructure, roadways, erosion control measures and coordinating multifaceted projects. We are seeking innovative, results-oriented individuals who value high standards of performance and collaborative teamwork.
Qualifications
Essential Engineering Skills and Functions:
Perform the following functions:
structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects
Design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and Industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction.
Design experience with light gage steel and timber is a plus
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings
Lead design team efforts
Manage project team for budget and schedule control
Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
Conduct marketing/business development activities
Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
Ability to travel
Work closely with other Coffman offices, such as Raleigh, Atlanta structural groups to complete projects and tasks.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).
10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience.
Experience with computer software programs and analysis systems (such as RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, RamSS, Etabs, Enercalc, etc.).
Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.
Project Management experience and/or certifications
Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams
Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus
Active local industry involvement is a plus
