A precision manufacturing organization serving highly regulated industries including aerospace, defense, medical device, transportation, and industrial markets. The company specializes in complex aluminum casting and machining solutions with a strong focus on quality, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. This Director of Operations role is part of a growing operation focused on scaling production, improving efficiencies, and maintaining strict industry and customer compliance standards. Open to local candidates in the Northern New Jersey area only.


Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Director of Operations:

#1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field

#2. 10+ years of operations leadership experience within manufacturing environments

#3. Strong experience with aluminum casting processes including investment casting and/or solid mold casting

#4. Expertise with aerospace manufacturing standards including AS9100, NADCAP, AMS, and ASTM compliance

#5. Proven leadership experience managing machine shop operations, continuous improvement initiatives, budgeting, and cross-functional manufacturing teams 


Responsibilities of the Director of Operations:

The Director of Operations will oversee all manufacturing and operational functions within a precision aerospace manufacturing environment, including investment casting, solid mold casting, and machining operations. This executive leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, improving production efficiency, ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards, optimizing costs, and leading cross functional manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in aluminum casting operations, aerospace manufacturing standards, lean manufacturing methodologies, and machine shop oversight. This individual must be a strategic and hands on leader capable of balancing production goals, quality requirements, safety standards, and customer expectations in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

  • Lead all day to day manufacturing operations across casting and machining departments

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput

  • Ensure compliance with aerospace and customer quality standards including AS9100 and NADCAP requirements

  • Oversee production planning, operational budgets, labor utilization, and cost reduction initiatives

  • Manage and mentor operations managers, supervisors, and production leadership teams

  • Maintain safe manufacturing operations and ensure compliance with environmental and workplace safety regulations

  • Partner with supply chain teams and suppliers to ensure raw material availability and inventory optimization

  • Support customer satisfaction through on time delivery, quality assurance, and operational responsiveness

  • Review engineering drawings and blueprints to support production accuracy and manufacturing execution

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align operational performance with company growth objectives

 

Requirements of the Director of Operations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical field

  • 10+ years of operations leadership experience within manufacturing environments

  • Strong experience with aluminum casting processes including investment casting and/or solid mold casting

  • Expertise with aerospace manufacturing standards including AS9100, NADCAP, AMS, and ASTM compliance

  • Proven leadership experience managing machine shop operations, continuous improvement initiatives, budgeting, and cross functional manufacturing teams

  • Experience within aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments

  • Strong knowledge of machining methods and precision manufacturing processes

  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification preferred

  • Experience leading multi department manufacturing operations

  • Strong financial acumen related to budgeting, forecasting, and cost controls

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
