Job description

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving the entire Quality Management System (QMS) for a high-precision aerospace CNC machining organization operating under AS9100 standards. This individual oversees all aspects of quality assurance, quality engineering, and inspection operations while ensuring strict compliance with aerospace customer requirements.

The role requires deep expertise in AS9100, APQP, PPAP, root cause methodologies, process validation, and aerospace regulatory compliance. The Quality Manager works closely with leadership, manufacturing, engineering, and customers to ensure product conformity, drive process capability, and maintain a culture of quality throughout the organization.

This position manages the full quality department including quality engineers, inspectors, CMM programmers, and document control, and serves as the primary authority for customer quality requirements, audits, and certification maintenance.

Core Responsibilities

Quality Management System Leadership (AS9100)

  • Own and maintain the AS9100-compliant Quality Management System

  • Ensure all procedures, policies, and documentation meet AS9100 and aerospace customer requirements

  • Lead internal audits, management reviews, and external certification audits

  • Maintain and continuously improve quality documentation including:

    • Quality Manual

    • Procedures and Work Instructions

    • Process control plans

    • Inspection standards

  • Ensure compliance with aerospace regulatory and customer standards including:

    • AS9100

    • NADCAP requirements where applicable

    • Customer-specific quality requirements

    • Department Leadership

    • Lead and develop the quality team while fostering a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

      Responsibilities include:

      • Manage quality personnel including:

        • Quality Engineers

        • Inspectors

        • CMM Programmers

        • Document Control

      • Establish department KPIs such as:

        • First pass yield

        • Customer escapes

        • On-time corrective action closure

        • Internal scrap rates

      • Implement training and development programs for the quality team
