ABOUT THE CLIENT
Our client is a well-established California boutique law firm devoted exclusively to labor and employment
law. With multiple offices across the state, the firm advises and represents national and regional employers
with California workforces, ranging from startups and mid-size ventures to privately held, public, and Fortune
500 companies.
Founded by attorneys from leading national law firms, the firm pairs large-firm caliber with the flexibility,
responsiveness, and close client relationships of a boutique. Its attorneys and staff work as a close,
collaborative team across the state.
POSITION SUMMARY
Our client is seeking a Late Shift Remote Legal Assistant with 5+ years of litigation experience to serve as the
firm’s evening e-filing lead. When the daytime legal assistants sign off at 5:00 PM, this role takes over and
carries time-sensitive filings, including late-evening appellate work, across the finish line for every office.
The position is hands-on and detail-driven. You will file in state, federal, and appellate courts, build litigation
document shells, and prepare filings for court. You will work alongside a three-person remote Legal Support
Team, with roughly five hours of daily schedule overlap, and support attorneys and legal assistants across all
of the firm’s offices. After a 30-day in-office onboarding in Irvine, the role is fully remote.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Evening e-filing. File documents in state, federal, and appellate courts, including filings that depend on
signed verifications or settlement agreements arriving through DocuSign.

• Time-sensitive and appellate filings. Own late-evening deadlines and see them through to confirmed
filing after daytime staff have signed off.
• Document shells. Build litigation document shells, including master captions, motions, and discovery,
for attorneys and legal assistants across all offices.
• Filing preparation. Prepare filings for court, including tables of authorities, exhibit bookmarking,
redactions, and Bates stamping.
• Court rules compliance. Research and apply court rules, including local rules and individual judges’
rules, so filings are accepted on the first submission.
• Shared inbox. Log and work overflow requests from the shared inbox in coordination with the three-
person remote Legal Support Team.
• Quality control. Review documents for obvious errors before filing and flag issues to the responsible
attorney or legal assistant.
• Administrative support. Assist as needed with attorney timesheets, expense reports, and travel
arrangements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Paralegal in a litigation setting. Internships do not count;
there is no maximum.
• Extensive, hands-on e-filing experience in state and federal courts (PACER/CM-ECF). Appellate e-filing
strongly preferred.
• Experience formatting legal documents, including tables of authorities, exhibit bookmarking, redaction,
and Bates stamping.
• Experience researching and ensuring compliance with court rules, including local rules and judges’
rules.
• Strong attention to detail and working knowledge of litigation documents, with the ability to spot
obvious errors in a document (assessed through a scenario exercise).
• Must live near Irvine, CA and be able to work on-site there for the initial 30 days.
• Availability to work Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–8:00 PM PT, with occasional later hours.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and a steady work history.
• U.S. citizen or Green Card holder; no visa sponsorship is available.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in labor and employment law.
• Experience with litigation calendaring software such as eDockets, Milana, or Compulaw.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, though it can be waived for strong experience. A paralegal certificate is
not required.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Technical: PACER/CM-ECF; state, federal, and appellate e-filing systems; MS Office 365 (Word, Excel,
Outlook); DocuSign; MS Teams and Zoom; litigation calendaring tools (eDockets, Milana, Compulaw).
• Professional: Meticulous accuracy, deadline discipline, sound judgment under time pressure, and clear
written communication.
